About the team

Walking Touch Rugby (WTR) is a fully inclusive brand of the game of Rugby, and generally is played by all genders over the age of 50, and indeed over 60’s and beyond. Currently our oldest player is 78. Many of our Squad are ex players from all over our region, but many are taking up this non contact form of the game for the first time.

This platform offers opportunities to remain a part of a “club” , with all the social benefits, health related fitness and wellbeing benefits, and of course, structured sessions to learn new skills, meet new people and travel far and wide to take part in festivals and tournaments.

As part of the RFU’s T1 initiative we are required to comply to their codes of practice, and indeed, the high safety standards set by Pocklington RFC. So, if you want to join in the fun, we need to make sure we are taking all reasonable precautions to ensure that you have a fantastic experience. Although it’s walking only, and physical contact is limited to touch tackling, we need you to download the registration form, answer some queries and return that to us.

Generally we meet every Friday at Percy Road, Pocklington. The Home of Pocklington RUFC. It’s a 1-30pm meet, and we aim to start warming up by 2pm. The warm up process is crucial to prepare seasoned bodies ready for action. This is followed by a differentiated approach to coaching and then a series of games lasting no longer than 10 minutes at a time.

A copy of the WTR guidelines are available in the download section.
